The CMUcam2 Rev A Vision
System can be use to track or monitor color. You can also view live
or captured images. The Rev A camera is new to the 2007 FIRST Robotics Competition
and consists of a camera assembly and RS-232 converter board.

The CMUcam2 REV A Vision System is mainly used to detect and track colored objects. The user controls the camera via a serial port using the CMUcam2 REV A GUI for Windows software. Java must also be loaded on your PC. You can view captured images, track a selected color, or view live images. Images are mainly viewed on a computer monitor using the CMUcam2 REV A GUI software. The camera also has a video output that you can connect to an RCA Video Jack on a TV to see live black and white video from the camera. The assembly comes with an RS-232 converter board to interface with the FRC Robot Controller. A 3 wire PWM cable is used to connect the converter board to the camera. The RS-232 converter board is design to mount directly onto the Robot Controller, no cable is required. You can also modify a PWM cable to connect power from the Robot Controller to the camera assembly. You can obtain an project enclosure box(#270-1802) from
Radio Shack to mount the CMUcam2 Rev A assembly. The lid of the project box will
have to be modified for the camera lens and cabling to the unit. |
